Websites for Artists

Synergy

Imagine a website that doesn't just display artwork but is a work of art in itself. The moment you see it, the lines, textures, and colors captivate you, connect with you emotionally, and invite you to explore further. If you have spent much time online, you'll have noticed how rare such websites are. Creating websites of this caliber for artists is one of my personal goals. I have been involved in the visual arts all my life, in one way or another. Currently, I am fascinated with crafting pottery, primarily on the wheel, and am a member of the Tucson Clay Co-op. If you are a visual artist, I believe we share the same language and can pool our complementary skills to create an outstanding website for you. We will pull together in the same direction. There is nothing I would enjoy more than crafting a truly artistic website. It's an opportunity I haven't been offered often.

Higher Earnings

If you are already selling online through websites like Etsy, you are paying a commission on each sale. If you sell through your own website, the proceeds of the sale are all yours (minus Paypal or other payment processing fees). These art/craft marketplace websites are wonderful for gaining loyal followers, and it's probably wisest to continue listing with them. As far as I know, though, there is nothing wrong with slipping a business card or other promotional item into your shipping boxes mentioning your own website within which you can stock otherwise unlisted or premium items.

Be a Control Freak

Probably the most attractive feature of having your own website is the degree of control you have over presentation. Sketch out your ideas and let me use my technical skills to bring them to life online. If you would like to be able to manage the site yourself (add - edit - delete images and content), I can create a simple to use control panel for you.

Enhancements

Add a custom designed blog to your website and you have a wonderful strategy for reaching a wider audience. Integrating your Facebook and/or Twitter page with your website can also be beneficial.

Your Photos

If you are already selling online, then you know the importance of good quality photos of your work. This is not the place to skimp. I recommend that you hire a professional or collar a talented friend if you aren't able to take satisfactory photos yourself. Sometimes there's no substitute for real studio equipment, especially if your work has reflective surfaces.
