During my web programmer training, I was exposed to both Microsoft and LAMP is an acroynym for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.LAMP tools. Rather than get into an impassioned defense of LAMP versus the "evil empire," which for some people is as inflammatory a realm as religion or politics, I'll simply say that I strongly prefer LAMP. All LAMP tools are products of the open source community. One probably has to be a programmer to appreciate the refreshing clarity and reliability of most open source products. They are logical, powerful, and they work. Best of all, they're free! What this means to you as a potential client is that you save a bundle. To fellow web professionals, that means I do not do Windows (i.e., use the ASP server scripting language or work with Microsoft web or database products). No pain, all gain.
